What is TruStage Health insurance?
Enrolling in the right health insurance plan is one of the most important decisions you can make for yourself and your family. However, you typically have only a short window of time each year — known as an open enrollment period — when you can register for or change your plan.
If you miss the deadline for open enrollment, you’ll typically have to wait until the next open enrollment period to protect you and your family’s health.
However, United Credit Union members have access to the TruStage Health Insurance Program. Certain major life events qualify you to obtain TruState health coverage at any time of the year.
What counts as a major life event?
For the purposes of securing health insurance through TruStage, any of the following might qualify as a major life event:
- Family changes, such as marriage, divorce, or the birth or adoption of a child
- Losing health coverage due to divorce or the loss of a job
- Losing your parents’ health coverage after turning 26
- Gaining American citizenship
- Leaving incarceration
